I grew up in small-town, rural America. As in, no stoplight in the entire town. My first ticket out of dodge led me to Santiago, Chile with Rotary Club Exchange and then I headed to George Washington University before moving to Manhattan at the age of 21 to work for Wall Street big Cantor Fitzgerald.

I was a typical gal living in the city, everything was fine. And then on Sept 10 2001, I was laid off from my job on 105th Floor of One World Trade Center.
On Sept 11th, I woke up a different person.

Until recently, I went about my life the way I was supposed to - got married, became a mother. I am blessed beyond a doubt and fulfilled, yet I can’t seem to shake this feeling that there is more to me.

I am the unexpected.

While tidying up the house I listen to international trade talks and national politics. I relish in talking to strangers in NYC about today’s toughest topics. And while I look like every other mom and housewife on the outside, on the inside, I’m poking around, searching for meaning, longing to connect to others even if only for a brief moment.
